Histoire et explication Lucille

Lucille de BB King aurait été enregistrée pour la première fois à Los Angeles en 1947 par BB King avec Sam Philips (le « découvreur » d’Elvis Presley) à la production. « Lucille » est le nom que BB King donnait à sa guitare.

Pour expliquer cet « étrange » nom de baptême, BB King raconta l’anecdote suivante : alors jeune musicien, il jouait dans un bar quand une bagarre éclata. La cohue fut telle que le poêle qui chauffait le bar se renversa et mit le feu au bar. Comme tous les autres occupants du bar, BB King s’enfuit mais une fois dehors, se rendit compte qu’il avait laissé sa guitare à l’intérieur. Ayant peur de ne jamais pouvoir réunir les 300 dollars qu’elle lui avait coutée, BB King retourna dans le bar en feu et sauva sa guitare. Plus tard, il apprit que la bagarre qui avait faillit lui couter sa guitare (et la vie !) avait pour origine une fille nommée Lucille que deux hommes se disputaient. C’est donc pour ne jamais oublier cet épisode qu’il nomma sa guitare « Lucille ».

Biographie BB King

B. B. King (pour Blues Boy), de son vrai nom Riley B. King, (né le 16 septembre 1925 à Itta Bena dans le Mississippi aux Etats-Unis) est un guitariste, compositeur et chanteur de blues. Il est considéré comme l’un des meilleurs musiciens de blues. En 2003, le mensuel Rolling Stone l’a classé 3^ème meilleur guitariste de tous les temps.
