Histoire et explication The Loco-Motion

 

 

Si l’artiste ne vous dit peut-être pas grand’ chose, vous connaissez (forcément) la chanson, immortalisée notamment sur les ondes françaises grâce au tube de Laurent Voulzy Rockollection. The Loco-Motion se plaça par ailleurs n°1 du Billboard américain en août 1962. Et pourtant, rien ne prédisposait la jeune Eva Boyd (17 ans à l’époque) à entrer dans le cercle très fermé des n°1 du Billboard américain. A l’origine, Eva était la baby-sitter du couple d’auteurs-compositeurs Gerry Goffin et Carole King, grands fabricants de tubes dans les années 1950-1960. Gerry Goffin raconte ainsi la genèse de la chanson : « Un soir, nous sommes rentrés à la maison et Eva jouait avec nos enfants en tournant autour de la table de la cuisine et en criant « Locomotion ! » Le soir, nous écrivions les paroles et la musique ». Ce morceau fut repris notamment par Sylvie Vartan, Grand Funk Railroad, Tina Turner et Kylie Minogue.

 

Biographie Little Eva

Little Eva (de son vrai nom Eva Narcissus Boyd) était une chanteuse américaine, née le 29 juin 1943 à Bell Haven en Caroline du Nord et décédée le 10 avril 2003 à Kinston en Caroline du Nord.
