Histoire et explication de Scar Tissue




Scar Tissue figure sur l’album Californication sorti en 1999. La chanson est restée n°1 du Billboard américain pendant 16 semaines. Dans son autobiographie (2004) du même nom que la chanson, Anthony Kiedis a apporté quelques éclairages sur certains passages de Scar Tissue. On sait ainsi que le « Sarcastic Mr. Know-it-all » (« le monsieur je-sais-tout sarcastique ») est Dave Navarro, guitariste des RHCP sur l’album One Hot Minute (1995). Anthony Kiedis donne aussi la clé pour comprendre le refrain/thème principal de la chanson, à savoir le « With the birds I’ll share this lonely view » : il s’agit en réalité de l’image que Kiedis a de lui-même, celle d’un « étranger ». Un sentiment que le chanteur met sur le compte de son enfance et de la première fois où il a inhalé des vapeurs d’herbe, à l’âge de 4 ans, son père en étant un grand consommateur.

Red Hot Chili Peppers (couramment abrégé en Red Hot ou RHCP) est un groupe de rock américain formé à Los Angeles en 1983. Leur musique mêle principalement des éléments de rock et de funk. Leurs premières compositions étaient faites d’une fusion de funk, de punk, de metal, de rock et de rap.
